How to prepare your horsetruck for the outdoor competition season

The outdoor season is here, and for many riders, owners and grooms, that means more kilometres, longer days and busier show schedules. Before the season gets into full swing, it is worth taking the time to check that your horsetruck is ready for the road.

A well-prepared vehicle does more than prevent delays. It gives peace of mind. It helps your horses travel comfortably, keeps your team organised, and allows you to arrive at each show focused on what really matters.

1. Start with a technical check

Before the first busy weeks of the season, check the essentials: tyres, brakes, lights, battery, fluids and general vehicle condition. Even small issues can become stressful when you are on your way to a show with horses on board.

2. Check the horse area

The horse area should be clean, safe and ready for repeated use. Look at partitions, flooring, rubber mats, ventilation, ramps, cameras and lighting. Make sure everything works as expected and that nothing feels loose, worn or unsafe.

3. Refresh the living area

After winter or quieter months, the living space often needs attention too. Check water systems, heating or cooling, appliances, storage, bedding and general cleanliness. A comfortable living area makes long show days much easier for riders, grooms and families.

4. Organise your equipment

A new season is a good moment to reorganise. Remove what you no longer need, restock essentials, and make sure everyday items are easy to reach. A clean and organised truck saves time when the schedule is tight.

5. Plan service before the season becomes too busy

The best time to solve a problem is before it interrupts your plans. If your horsetruck has not been checked recently, May is the right moment to book a service appointment.
